Process

User flows

I mapped out path taken by a prototypical user on a website or app to complete a task. The user flow takes them from their entry point through a set of steps towards a successful outcome and final action, such as purchasing a product.

Design System

We decided to set up a Design System in order to have a unified set of rules that we can follow before we implemented new features into the product.

  • Provide all states (default, hover, active)
  • Follow Atomic Design principles
    Involve product and development
  • The design system improved our team’s velocity and allowed development to close backlog VQA tickets much more quickly.

UI Design

After flows were reviewed by the team, designs were created for each stage.

Designs provided:

  • Native Mobile and Responsive Web breakpoints were provided within the same sprint.
  • These used the existing design system and style guide listed above which sped up delivery.
  • Since time was of the essence we tested tasks internally with our team and occasionally used A/B testing for content.
  • Our final designs reflected what pain points and goals we learned about from coaches and athletic directors we spoke with.

Results

The SportsYou Website and Mobile applications hit the market place in 2016 and addiiotnal design feature updates were easy to integrate with a scalable product design and design system.

One GooglePlay review:
“I use this on a daily basis and it is such a great app because I would miss a lot of practices if not for this app it truly is so amazing and please keep on doing what you are doing because there are no glitches ads so it is just all around awesome"
