JD's House of Bacon

Branding, photography, graphic design, e-commerce website design, development and hosting for JD's House of Bacon.com

How it started

Long time friends decided to go into business for themselves selling bacon on a stick with various seasoning and marinades. They wanted a logo, a website, branded labels and a food truck design and I was happy to oblige! 🧐

Product: JD's House of Bacon, Branding and Website Design.
Target audience: Everyday consumers of pork products.
Business Challenge: Branding a product nd launching a responsive e-commerce site.
My Role: Sole designer
Working with: Product and business owners and printing vendors.
Goal: Create a brand that's unique and scalable along with a website that can handle purchasing, shipping and inventory.

Process

Sketching

My process starts with a mood board collection of logos in a similar space along with sketching out an original design with pencil and paper.

Creating branded assets in illustrator

Once we aligned on the sketch, I moved over to illustrator to create the final logo, along with an assortment of labels representing the different flavors.

Food truck

Once we started printing the labels and sent the logos over to their packaging vendor, it was time to create graphics to wrap onto their food truck!

Now this was fun!

I searched for food truck templates to use and made sure they aligned to the dimensions of the food truck. All the assets were vector with exception of the dark wood background which I sent as a large format tiff.

Time to sell some bacon online

Once all the branded elements were created and sent to our printing vendors, it was time to move to the website

Responsive website

I shared a few Wordpress templates with the team and the winner was selected.

I then shared a table of contents of all the pages that we need to create along with an estimate.

Once the site was close to done, I then started photographing the products for the website.

We had a "soft-rollout" with family and friends to test look and feel and purchase process.

Two updates were made to the mobile version.
  • Allow users to increase and decrease quantity of a product order
  • Supply samplers in the form of product groups.
